What is CHAS?
The CHAS health and safety assessment scheme is a pre-qualification scheme to allow contractors to show their potential clients that they meet the required health and safety standards.
The main purpose of the CHAS scheme is to avoid repeated applications by suppliers and contractors to become approved as local authority suppliers and to improve health and safety in small and medium sized businesses. The CHAS assessment scheme is a local authority and government backed scheme, however it is used by many organisation looking to short list suppliers and contractors and has been found to can save time and money for all parties
How do I become CHAS approved?
You can make the application yourself. However the process can be lengthy and if your health and safety management system is not properly robust and compliant you are unlikely to meet the exacting standards required by CHAS.

Please note that we are not like other ‘health and safety consultants’ who will work with you remotely, our service is very much ‘hands on’. We will visit your premises to carry out an assessment of your current Health and Safety Status to ensure your documents meet the stringent standards of the CHAS scheme.
